Self-compression of femtosecond light pulses in media with a quadratic nonlinearity under conditions of a group velocity mismatch

Abstract:
A numerical modeling study is made of parametric self-compression of femtosecond light pulses in media with a quadratic nonlinearity subject to an allowance for the mismatch between the group velocities of pulses. The conditions for experimental observation of self-compression in nonlinear crystals used in practical devices are identified.
