Optimization of holographic memories

Abstract: An analysis is made of the influence of a change in the diameter of the reconstructing beam and of its displacement relative to the center of a hologram on the signal/noise ratio of a holographic memory. The optimal ratio of the diameters of the hologram and reconstructing beam, corresponding to the maximum signal reaching the photodetector, is estimated.
