Photoelectric recording of holograms using an unsteady reference wave

Abstract: An analysis is made of a photoelectric recording method based on the use of an unsteady reference wave. The object field is recorded after a preliminary conversion into a spatial spectrum, which is performed by an optical method. The signal can be recorded on magnetic tape, transmitted along communication channels, and reproduced as a transparency on the screen of an image converter. The field reconstructed from such a transparency is identical with the original object field. The proposed method makes it possible to reduce the amount of the information that has to be recorded. The object field can be recorded directly in difficult spectral regions. The inverse Fourier transformation is performed during the reconstruction in the visible part of the spectrum.
