Mode locking in a gas laser

Abstract:
The boundary conditions for locking of two modes in a gas laser were investigated theoretically and experimentally using the 3.3912 and 3.3922 μm emission lines of neon as an example. The conclusions of an approximate analytical study of the locking effect were compared with the experimental results. The prospects for the practical application of these results are discussed.
