Abstract: The method of adiabatic pulsed laser calorimetry is considered. It is shown that this method of determination of the volume absorption coefficient of optical materials heated by laser pulses of different duration makes it possible to find the dimensions of submicron defects and to analyze the nature of nonlinear absorption without damage to the optical material.
