Improvement in the linearity of a piezoelectric ceramic transducer under sinusoidal scanning conditions

Yu. V. Troitskii
Abstract: A description is given of the method for reducing considerably the influence of nonlinearity and hysteresis of a piezoelectric ceramic transducer. The method is based on periodic scanning with a sinusoidal voltage. A phase shift, which ensures coincidence of the forward and reverse parts of the investigated characteristic, is introduced into the X channel of an oscilloscope. If the shape of a hysteresis loop of the piezoelectric ceramic is close to an ellipse, its nonlinearity makes no contribution to the measurement error.
