Potentialities of waveguide active elements made of different materials and used in solid-state lasers characterized by high average powers

Abstract:
The ultimate lasing characteristics are estimated for solid-state lasers capable of providing high average powers and utilizing active elements of the waveguide type. It is shown that optically dense highly efficient active media (for example, GSGG:Cr3+:Nd3+) made it possible to construct compact subkilowatt lasers.
