Cooling of a molecular gas in the course of amplification of light
A. M. Starik
Abstract:
It is shown that an inverted medium may be cooled as a result of amplification of light both in the case of propagation of a pulse of duration less than the VT relaxation time in a gas at rest and also in the case of continuous emission by a moving gas. The main mechanisms responsible for the cooling of a molecular gas in the case of resonant amplification of light are analyzed.
