Absorption of laser radiation by a dense expanding plasma

Abstract: Expressions are obtained for the time dependence of the optical reflection coefficient of a laser-produced plasma. The region where the parametric absorption mechanism (resulting from the parametric-decay instability tl + s) influences the hydrodynamic parameters of the expanding plasma is defined. The effects of ionization and recombination on the reflection of laser radiation are considered.
