Abstract:
The results are reported of an investigation of the effects of γ rays on the optical attenuation in low-loss quartz glass fiber waveguides. The spectral and dose dependences of the induced absorption were determined. The radiation-optical stability of the fibers was considerably higher in the wavelength range 1.3–1.7 μ than at other wavelengths.
