Interaction of laser radiation with matter

Stimulated Brillouin scattering of a two-frequency pump wave in a laser plasma

Abstract: It is found that when a two-frequency pump wave is used in an expanding laser plasma, three nonlinear scattering regimes are feasible. A nonlinear interaction between the incident and reflected waves, in the zone where the plasma flow velocity is close to the velocity of sound, may substantially reduce the efficiency of utilization of multifrequency pumping to suppress stimulated Brillouin scattering.
