Abstract: Analytic expressions are derived for and quantitative estimates are obtained of the frequency and damping (decay) decrement of relaxation oscillations of the intensity of radiation from a 2-μm thulium laser with a Cr3+, Tm3+ : YSGG crystal operating under cw and pulsed conditions.
