Compact optical delay line for investigations of fast processes

R. N. Arkhipov, B. L. Vasin, I. A. Dubovik, M. I. Fedyanina, A. S. Shikanov
Abstract: The principle of operation is given and the construction is described of a compact optical delay line utilizing spherical mirrors. A delay time of 3 μsec is reported. The delay was used in multiframe shadow photography, with a ruby laser beam (1 nsec exposure), of a shock wave in air formed as a result of expansion of a laser jet.
