Measurement of the spectral characteristics of the 3.3912 μ (3s2-3p2 Ne) line
V. A. Balakin, I. P. Konovalov, E. D. Protsenko
Abstract:
Measurements were made of the line width and shift of the central frequency of the 3s2–3p2 transition in Ne (3.3912 μ) by direct determination of the gain profile as a function of pressure, isotopic composition of the helium-neon mixture, and relative proportions of helium and neon. The shift between the centers of the lines of the Ne20 and Ne22 isotopes was measured. The effective value of the Lande factor was determined. It was found that the collisional characteristics of the 3.3912μ and 3.3922μ (3s2–3p4 Ne) lines were identical. An estimate was obtained of the ratio of the densities of the inverted populations of the levels participating in these transitions.
