SECOND ALL-UNION SYMPOSIUM ON PHYSICS OF GAS LASERS

Measurements of pressure-broadened infrared line widths with an optical parametric oscillator

J. Wormhoudt, L. Marabella, J. I. Steinfeld
Abstract: An investigation was made of the pressure-broadened infrared line shapes of HF and HCl diluted with 1–100 atm of argon. An optical parametric oscillator was used to record the lines. The absorption spectra of HF (P2–P4 lines) and HCl (R1–R4 lines) were obtained and the dependences of the line half-width on the argon pressure were determined. The results obtained were compared with theory.
