Interaction of weak and strong waves in an amplifying medium

Yu. A. Vdovin, V. M. Ermachenko, V. K. Matskevich
Abstract: An investigation is made of the transmission of strong and weak waves along the same direction in anamplifying medium of finite dimensions. Allowance is made for the depolarization in atomic collisions and for the level degeneracy. The dependence of the intensity of the transmitted weak wave on its frequency and on the thickness of the amplifying layer is obtained for an arbitrary intensity of the strong wave. Cases of different polarizations of the waves are considered.
