Abstract: A brief review is given of the topics considered in lectures and discussions at the International Autumn School on Semiconductor Optoelectronics "Cetniewo 1975" held in Poland. The topics were the physics and technology of semiconductor light sources, namely light-emitting diodes and lasers.
