Method for the determination of the position of the focal plane of converging laser beams

G. N. Vinokurov, V. A. Gorbunov, V. P. Dyatlov, V. N. Sizov, A. D. Starikov
Abstract: A method for the determination of the positions of focal planes and optical axes of converging laser beams is developed on the basis of an analysis of calculated and experimentally observed diffraction patterns. The method requires measurement of the total amount of light bypassing an opaque strip inserted in the focal plane of a laser beam.
