High-sensitivity high-resolution ruby laser spectrometer based on selective loss principle

A. P. Godlevskii, V. P. Lopasov, S. F. Luk'yanenko
Abstract: The results are given of a detailed investigation of the influence of selective losses in a resonator on the spectral characteristics of ruby laser radiation. The conditions for the appearance of selective losses in the emission spectrum of the ruby laser are determined. A study is made of the influence of the laser parameters and recording apparatus on the spectrometer sensitivity. The maximum sensitivity, corresponding to the optimal resonator parameters, is 5X10–8 cm–1. Methods are suggested for the determination of the absorption line parameters.
