Polarization effects in corrugated optical waveguides

Abstract:
An analysis is made of some characteristics of the diffraction of TM–polarized light at the corrugated boundary of two media. The conditions are found under which the intensity of the diffracted beams of the first positive and negative order vanishes. An experimental investigation is made of the zero diffraction effect. Areas where this effect may be observed in integrated optics and holography are indicated.
