Abstract: A description is given of a theoretical model of gain saturation in neodymium glasses based on the minimum of the standard deviation from experimental data. It is shown that it is undesirable to search for active medium parameters on the basis of this minimization. The feasibility of using multipass systems to select a theoretical model is examined.
