Abstract:
An investigation was made of the luminescence and absorption spectra of two pentacarbocyanine dyes used as passive switches in neodymium lasers. The results obtained indicated that the solutions contained two modifications or forms of the dye molecules, differing in spectroscopic properties. The presence of two equilibrium forms of the dye molecules in the solutions was primarily due to the solvation effect.
