Theoretical investigation of stimulated enthalpy light scattering in an oxygen-iodine active medium
A. P. Zaikin, N. L. Kupriyanov
Abstract:
An analysis is made of stimulated enthalpy scattering (STES) in the medium of an oxygen-iodine chemical laser utilizing ultrasonic and thermal waves. Equations are derived for the gain of the scattered waves in the steady-state approximation (the maximum for a pulsed laser is ~10–1 cm/MW). The probability of STES increases with increasing gain of the active medium and radiation intensity. Quenching additives may reduce the scattered-wave gain. These results indicate that the evolution of STES in the medium of an oxygen-iodine chemical laser is less probable than in the medium of an iodine photodissociation laser.
