Instability of a high-intensity plane wave in a periodic nonlinear medium

S. N. Vlasov
Abstract: Increments are calculated for growing perturbations traveling at small angles with respect to the direction of propagation of a high-intensity plane wave in a periodic system composed of layers of a cubic nonlinear medium and layers of free space. It is shown that these perturbations, traveling at certain angles, may be suppressed by a suitable selection of the geometric dimensions of the system.
