Reduction of the pulse duration of a high-power neodymium glass laser using nonlinear LiF filters

Abstract:
A calculation method for a model phosphate-glass laser system is used to show that the duration of a smooth bell-shaped pulse can be reduced from 30 to 3–8 nsec by using saturable filters in the amplifying channel.
