Measurement of an excess pressure in laser pump cavities

Abstract: Measurments were made of the excess pressure which appeared in laser pump cavities due to flashes of pulse-discharge lamps. It was found that the amplitude of the pressure pulses was independent of the ultraviolet component of the pump lamp radiation. It was concluded that pressure pulses reaching ~1 atm or higher could be one of the causes of the damage of laser pump cavities.
