Drawing of glass-fiber waveguides using CO2 lasers

Abstract:
Apparatus was assembled in which glass-fiber waveguides were drawn with the aid of CO2 lasers. The characteristics of fibers grown from the same preform using CO2 lasers and an oxygen-hydrogen burner were compared.
