Abstract:
The acoustooptic interaction in GaAlAs/GaAs waveguides was investigated by obtaining an accurate solution of the problem of propagation of acoustic surface waves (ASWs) in a layer structure. The frequency dependence of the diffraction efficiency was described when the parameters of the waveguide structure and the wavelength of the optical radiation were varied. An experimental investigation was made of a GaAlAs waveguide at ASW frequencies of 103 and 522 MHz.
