Volume holograms with a monodisperse speckle reference wave

A. M. Darskiĭ, V. B. Markov
Abstract: An investigation is reported of the displacement (translation) selectivity of volume phase holograms with a speckle reference wave characterized by a weak dispersion of the speckle size. A theoretical calculation and an experimental study demonstrate that the speckle size dispersion in the reference wave structure has a considerable influence on the characteristics of the displacement (translation) sensitivity. The experimental results indicate that the ratio of the average and smallest speckles in the object speckle pattern is 1.25.
