Stimulated Raman scattering in a dispersive medium pumped nonmonochromatically by a wide spectral line

Abstract:
A solution is obtained for the equations describing stimulated Raman scattering in a dispersive medium pumped by a wide spectral line; this is done without employing the stochastic approach. It is shown that the growth increment of the amplified waves is governed by the average intensity of the pump line only if the average (over the relaxation time of the molecular vibrations of the medium) pump intensity is a steady-state quantity.
