Comprehensive optimization of gasdynamic laser parameters for maximum gain in the $16\mu m$ band

Abstract:
A comprehensive theoretical parameter optimization of a mixing-type gasdynamic laser is made for maximum gain in the $16\mu m$ band, which is realized following lasing at $9\mu m$. It is shown that the highest gain in the $16\mu m$ band (14.9 m${}^{-1}$) is reached at the limit where the supersonic flow is disrupted.
