Investigation of the optical strength of chemical coatings

Abstract: An investigation was made of the technology of deposition of chemical coatings on transparent substrates. A suitable selection of the coating material and an improvement in the quality of the substrate surfaces made it possible to prepare dielectric mirrors with a reflection coefficient up to 60% and an optical strength of the same order as that of the K-8 glass substrates. A nondestructive method for measuring the optical strength of coatings was developed. The problem of increasing the productivity in the manufacture of chemical coatings was considered.
