Cross section for stimulated emission of the $CO_2$ molecule from the $00^\circ1-10^\circ0$ transition in a waveguide laser

Abstract:
An analytical expression was obtained for the stimulated-emission cross section $\sigma$ of the $00^\circ1-10^\circ0$ laser transition in the $CO_2$ molecule in a waveguide laser. An analysis was made of the dependences of $\sigma$ on the pressure of the $CO_2-N_2-He$ active gas mixture, on its temperature, and on the rotational quantum number $J$. The calculated $\sigma$ values were compared with those measured experimentally. The value of $\sigma$ was determined by investigating the values of the luminescence bumup at $4,3\mu m$ and the laser output power at $10,6\mu m$.
