Experimental determination of the relaxation channels of vibrationally excited $CO_2$ molecules

Abstract:
A study was made of the vibrational relaxation of $CO_2$ molecules in $CO_2(001)\to CO_2(020), CO_2(030)$ processes. The phase method described in a previous publication was used. The probabilities of relaxation due to vibrational–vibrational ($V-V'$) exchange were determined for temperatures of 700 and 825 degree K. It was found that the probabilities of relaxation by these two channels are approximately the same.
