Analysis of the quality of laser images of diffuse objects

Abstract: An analysis is made of the combined influence of the resolving power of an optical system and of the high coherence of laser radiation on the quality of the images of diffuse objects. An experimental dependence is given of the number of spots in an image on the resolving power and a histogram of intensities in a laser image is plotted. It is shown that the experimental and theoretical results are in good agreement. Ways of improving the quality of laser images are considered.
