Abstract: A pulsed mode-locked $CO_2$ laser was developed and investigated. Stable mode locking was obtained. The observed duration of one pulse in a train was $\thicksim2$ nsec and the amplitude reproducibility was $\pm5$%. A description is given of the technological implementation of the elements of the laser system.
