Influence of the temperature of a gas stream on a highvoltage diffuse discharge

S. V. Pashkin, P. I. Peretyat'ko
Abstract: An experimental investigation was made of the influence of the temperature of a gas (dry air, technicalgrade nitrogen) on the transverse and longitudinal (relative to the gas flow direction) high-voltage diffuse discharges. In the investigated ranges of the gas flow velocities (20–100 m/sec) and reduced pessures (30–170 Torr), there was a critical gas temperature below which only an inhomogeneous discharge was obtained. The value of this critical temperature depended on the reduced pressure. The current voltage characteristics of the high-voltage diffuse discharges were obtained at various gas flow velocities.
