Lorenz-type optical chaos in Brillouin scattering

Abstract: It is shown that the classical equations describing the Brillouin scattering process can be recast into a form which is isomorphic with the Lorenz equations for turbulence. The possibility of Lorenz-type optical chaos is predicted.
