Abstract: Control of the statistics of emission from a gas laser was achieved experimentally by using a photodetector–pump feedback loop. This loop reduced fluctuations of the photodiode current, used to provide the feedback signal, below the shot noise level indicating that the photodiode recorded laser radiation with the sub-Poisson photon statistics.
