Orientation of a molecular gas by resonance radiation, optical detection, and their applications in laser spectroscopy

E. N. Bazarov, G. A. Gerasimov, V. L. Derbov, M. A. Kovner, S. K. Potapov
Abstract: The results are reported of an investigation of resonant optical detection in molecular gases. An analysis is made of the mechanisms responsible for the additional permittivity and static polarization of a gas under the action of resonance radiation and a static electric field. Resonant optical detection of OsO4 and SF6 molecules, pumped by CO2 laser radiation, was observed experimentally.
