Abstract:
The results are given of an experimental study of the dispersion of light pulses in graded-index and stepped-index optical waveguides at a wavelength of 0.63 $\mu m$. The measurements were performed using apparatus with a mode-locked $He-Ne$ laser. The mode locking was achieved by internal modulation of the resonator losses. A comparison is given of measurements of the dispersion of a light pulse at wavelength of 0.63 and 0.86 $\mu m$, in a waveguide having a stepped refractive-index profile.
