Use of $LiYbF_4:Ho^{3+}$ as an active medium in a laser frequency converter

Abstract:
It was found that$LiYbF_4:Ho^{3+}$ is an efficient converter of neodymium laser radiation to the infrared range (1.06-2.06$\mu m$). A cascade stimulated emission scheme was realized for the first time at room temperature in a solid-state laser utilizing $Ho^{3+}$ ions.
