Emission of nanosecond pulses from a CO2 laser operating under free-oscillation conditions

Abstract:
A CO2 laser was excited by ionizing the active medium with an electron beam. The output pulses were of 7×10–9 sec duration under free-oscillation conditions. The dependences of the pulse duration on the composition of the mixture and the energy characteristics of the laser were determined.
