A review of game-theoretic studies of innovation

Abstract: This paper qualitatively and quantitatively characterizes the mainstream in the current innovation studies based on game theory principles and tools. The author describes the main aspects of “innovation games” analysis, including R&D and technology competition, innovation licensing, patent race, entry with a new product into a market, choice of the optimal innovation strategy (independent innovation, imitative innovation, cooperative innovation, etc.), innovation deployment, optimal sharing of innovation project outcomes, interrelation of innovation consortium participants, innovation policy and government interventions.
