Abstract: The paper shows that operational diagnostics of computing devices has been developed under a precise data model which determined the target, key requirements to the techniques, and their effectiveness estimate only for a case of precise data processing. The features of approximate calculus are examined that show the need in revising the key issues of operational diagnostics. The analysis revealed the low reliability of traditional techniques under increasing significance of approximate data processing.
