Soft Riemann–Hilbert problems and planar orthogonal polynomials

After the discovery by Hedenmalm–Wennman of the existence of an asymptotic expansion for polynomials orthogonal with respect to a varying weight of exponential type, the problem naturally arises of simplifying the construction of such an expansion. It turns out that this is possible.
