Abstract:
Determinantal point processes are a remarkable class of random fields that are given by a simple formula and have diverse and far-reaching applications. For instance, columns in a Young diagram as well as eigenvalues of a random matrix are governed by determinantal processes. The lectures will provide an elementary introduction to determinantal point processes, with a special emphasis on applications to representation theory.
