Abstract: The report is dedicated to the memorable date of 2023 - the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Stepanovich Solomenko, a Russian mechanical scientist in the field of mechanics of deformable bodies and structural mechanics of ships. N.S. Solomenko is an Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RSFSR, Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1984), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991), laureate of the USSR State Prize, participant in the Great Patriotic War, engineer-rear admiral. N.S. Solomenko is the organizer and first director of the Institute of Transport Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1990), which was named after him in 2006, as well as the creator and head of the department of the on-ly department of hydroelasticity in Russia at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of St. Petersburg State University. There will be a presentation of the book “Essays on the history of domestic shipbuilding”, published in 1990 under the editorship of N.S. Solomenko and republished in 2023 under the editorship of G.V. Pavilainen.
