Topologies and structures of the Cremona group

The Cremona group is the group of birational automorphisms of the $n$-dimensional projective space. Following a paper by Blanc and Furter, I will discuss ways to introduce topologies on this group. Moreover, I will explain why the Cremona group is not an ind-algebraic group for $n > 1$.
