On the separation of variables in the Hamilton-Jacobi equation

We consider a point particle moving on a manifold equipped with a metric of arbitrary signature. Necessary and sufficient conditions on metric admitting complete separation of variables in the Hamilton-Jacobi equation are found in the case of linear and indecomposable quadratic conservation laws.
